Mrs. Neizokhonou Nakhro-a tribute

I am deeply hurt to know the untimely demise of Mrs N. Nakhro. She joined as Asst. Director (script) in 1977. I got transferred to Naga Hospital, Kohima in 1979. From my previous home state, Odisha, I was deeply attached to A.I.R., getting broadcast my different presentations, at A.I.R., Cuttack. When I joined in Naga Hospital, Kohima, again I started writing different topics including medical ones, and regularly got them broadcast in All India Radio, Kohima. Miss Sekhoshe was AIR in charge of Kohima. Mrs. Nakhro was programme executive, if I am not mistaken. Gradually we came to know each other, and I was quite impressed with her knowledge, attitude, and practice, as Programme Executive. Miss Sekhoshe was also an able in charge.

In 1980, I wrote a radio play, basing on birth of Jesus Christ-AND HE WAS BORN. Both Miss Sekhoshe as well as Mrs. Nakhro were all praise for me for this radio play, and it was broadcast in AIR, Kohima. Probably it was the first radio drama to be broadcast. Again the next year, during the Good Friday, my second radio play-DEATH THAT NEVER WAS, was broadcast, from AIR, Kohima. The caption of the play was bit controversial, and after proper interaction of mine with Miss Sekhoshe and Mrs. Nakhro, the play (RADIO DRAMA) was broadcast. Mr. Michael Yaden had lent the voice for Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Nakhro thus knew me very well and herself and Miss Sekhoshe  always encouraged me to write topics on medical science, and  I did it till  1986, and stopped writing radio topics, being transferred to Dimapur. However, when I go to Kohima and meet Miss Sekhoshe and Mrs.Nakhro, an intellectual relationship, we had.
This morning, when I went through the newspaper, it was a great shock for me to know her demise at the age of 59!  She was younger than me. Anyhow as Station Director of AIR, Kohima she has left behind a vacuum, difficult to replace. May her soul rest in peace!
