AR celebrates 71st Republic Day across Nagaland

Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): Republic Day 2020 was celebrated by HQ IGAR (North) and under command Sector HQs and Unit across Nagaland at various locations on January 26.

Mokokchung: Mokokchung Battalion organised a ‘Weapon and Band Display’ for school children and civil populace at Mokokchung Public Ground. Residents across all the age groups attended the event. A similar event was organised in Longleng.

Kiphire: Kiphire Battalion celebrated with patriotic fervour in Kiphire, Mimi, Longmatre, Pungro, Thongsanyu and Akhegwo. The Battalion conducted flag hosting and participated in the parade along with District Administration at DC Ground, Kiphire. Weapons Display and ‘Know Your Army’ campaign at Pungro was also organised. 

Phek: Phek Battalion organised Weapon display in Phek, Jessami and Meluri town for the local populace. A friendly cricket match was also organized between civil administration and troops of Assam Rifle at Phek. The event was followed by interaction with elders ex-servicemen.  

Jalukie: Jalukie Battalion organised a weapon display for school children at Tening and DC office complex Peren showcasing various arms and equipment used by Battalions of Assam Rifles.  68 children of varying age groups attended the event.

Shamatore: Various activities like pipe and jazz band display, weapon display and cultural Programme were organised at local ground Shamatore by Shamatore Battalion. Village functionaries, students and local residents participated in the celebration with patriotic feavour and enthusiasm. At ITC Dan-Pangsha on Indo-Myanmar Border in addition to the local population a delegation of Myanmar Army also joined the celebration after a ceremonial Border Meet. Flag Hoisting cultural programme by the Khiamniungan tribe, exhibition Volleyball match and Tug-of-War was organised.

Zunheboto: Zunheboto Battalion conducted a weapon display at ADC compound, Longkhim and interaction was held with Ex- Servicemen in Zunheboto.
