Awareness camp for adolescent girls held in Chiechama

Kohima, September 19 (MExN): An awareness camp for adolescent girls was organized at Government Higher Secondary School, Chiechama as envisaged in the action plan of Poshan Maah.


A press release by Anyile Khamo, CDPO Chiephobozou Block stated that students between the age group of 10-19 years participated in the programme.


MO (AYUSH) Chiephobozou, Dr Orentsani spoke on the importance of physical, psychological and behavioral changes during an adolescent period. She highlighted on the importance of a balanced diet and nutrition through a food pyramid chart.


She also urged the students to avail different facilities from Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC). The importance of blood test to detect early cases of HIV was delivered by Councilor (AYUSH) Mhiesirieto Punyü. 


Yoga Instructor, Kelhouzasie Lawrence demonstrated the students on the importance of body stretch for stress and pain relief along with the breathing exercise to keep the concentration power sharp. 


IEC pamphlets were distributed to each student and checking of BMI, weight and height were conducted by nurses from CHC, Chiephobozou.


Earlier the programme was chaired by Chubasungla. Students and teachers, staff from Medical department, NRLM (RD) and School Education participated in the programme.
