Awareness on POCSO Act held in Ahthibung

Ahthibung, September 19 (MExN): Awareness programme on Child Rights and Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act 2015 was organized by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Peren at Ahthibung on September 15.


A press release by DCPU Peren stated that the programme aimed to enlighten the unreached rural community about child rights and child protection. In the keynote address DCPO, Peren, Avika Zhimomi highlighted the structure of the Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS). He also stressed on the need for setting up of Village Level Child Protection Committee (VLCPC).


He asserted that for a peaceful society, every individual in the society should be responsible to protect the rights of children. 


Resources person, Legal cum Probation Officer, Peren, Asungbe, spoke on various child rights and Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) and POCSO Act 2015. PO (NIC) Vihoto Kinny spoke on the role and services available under DCPU. Ibamsile Doson, Centre Coordinator, CHILDLINE Peren also spoke on the various activities conducted under Childline Peren.


The programme was chaired by Hailungding Pame, Data Analyst, while invocation was said by Lhailhing, Women President KCN and vote of thanks was delivered by Paulie, Social worker DCPU, Peren.
