‘Cell Phone makes the world global’

Kiphire | November 20: Bharti Airtel reportedBharti Airtel, reportedly India’s largest cellular service provider with more than 110 million subscribers, has finally reached Kiphire, one the remotest districts in Nagaland. The launch of the mobile service was announced at a formal programme on Friday here at the S.K Enterprise, opposite the Kiphire Town Council office, with Deputy Commissioner for Kiphire, Yantsawo Lotha, as the chief guest.
“Mobile service has made the world truly global and makes life easier and closer,” said Lotha on the occasion. Applauding the distributor he said, “Launching of the service means not only business but development of the district. Kiphire is remote and the farthest district lacking in basic infrastructure, but with the launching of Airtel it can catch up with the rest of the world.”
Assuring his support the chief guest said, “We are there to give all possible support in any area needed,” and asked the gathering to do the same to make the Airtel service productive. The Deputy Commissioner added, “This is the biggest industry and we were lagging behind; but with the launching of Airtel we are no more behind.”
Exhorting the gathering the SDPO for Kiphire said, “Communication leads us to urbanisation and we no more feel remote due to communication and, therefore, laud Airtel for adding more avenue in the field of communication.” He further wished success to the business and assured to lend all possible help in any area if the need arose.
Former Minister Zhetovi who also spoke at the programme thanked the service provider for ushering in better communication not only to communicate but in education as well. Later, he also challenged those gathered and said, “In the world of competition try to be the best.” George Murry, zonal sales manager for Nagaland Bharti Airtel and his team were also present at the launch programme. Earlier, Airtel distributor for Kiphire, S Kiusumong, welcomed the gathering; refreshments were served following the function.
