COVID 19 cases rise to 5 in Assam

Guwahati, April 1 (UNI) Four news cases of COVID, have been reported in Assam, taking the total number of cases to five, with all patients having history of visiting Nizamuddin Markaz.

 

Informing this, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said all the cases have been traced back to the Tableegi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in Delhi.

 

He said, "All these people had attended the congregation of Tableegi Jamaat in Delhi earlier this month and later returned to Assam." The first case of COVID-19 was confirmed yesterday at Sikh. Medical College and Hospital when a person, who had attended the same congregation, tested positive.

 

The four new cases, who were also in the same congregation, were confirmed at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital here today.

 

Dr Sarma said the government has traced 230 people from the state who had attended the congregation or were in Nizamuddin area and samples of 1.96 out of these have been tested so far.

 

The state government has a list of total 547 names of people from the state who had either attended the congregation or were in the Nizamuddin area earlier this month, the minister added.
