Dreamz Unlimited is here for serious entertainment
The Dreamz Unlimited team performing a scene of the revised play ‘Technicolour Dreams-2’ at ‘International Women Playwrights Conference’ in Mumbai on November 4 last.
The only theatre society ‘on the go’ in Nagaland “Dreamz Unlimited: A Theatre society of Nagaland” will be performing the first version of ‘Technicolour Dreams’ at the much anticipated Hornbill Festival on December 2, 12.30 pm at Kisama, Kohima.
Naga youth to work with Saif and Kareena
With a club of dedicated and vibrant talents, Dreamz Unlimited (DU) already has a good number of fans. The former Governor of Nagaland, Shankaranarayanan was so impressed with the play when the group performed in Raj Bhavan, that he personally initiated the Nagaland tour to Kohima, Wokha, Zunheboto and Dimapur as he want all the people of Nagaland to watch learn from this play.
DU went on to perform in major cities of India like Mumbai, Delhi, Gangtok, Agartala staging ‘Technicolour Dreams’ Directed by Rabijita Gogoi, a National Award Winner in Theatre. DU performed in Mumbai again on November 4, 2009 at ‘International Women Playwrights Conference’ where the revised play ‘Technicolour Dreams-2’ was staged.
Very soon one of the executive members of DU, Zhokhoi Chakhesang will be seen in a Bollywood movie which stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Zhokhoi have worked in some Doordashan projects before and acted in various local films and he is also a Martial Art teacher.
In June, 2009 two of the executive members of DU, Bendangtemsu Walling and Uto Chishi were among the 23 candidates selected from all over India to join NSD New Delhi for 3 years diploma course. Bendangtemsu Walling winner of NEZCC ‘Young Talent Award’ for the year 2008-09 in the field of Theatre also directed the play ‘The Third Eye’ another production of DU, which was staged in Town Hall Dimapur on July 22, 2009. DU won 1st Prize in first ‘Northeast Youth Festival ’09 in One Act Play category for the play ‘Scapin the Scoundrel’. DU has also organized a 15 days theatre workshop for youth in the month of October.
DU is now a govt registered society headed by Tiakumzuk Aier as president and Mughato Chishi as general secretary. The Society in a release said, “All the members are young and educated and have the zeal bring theatre revolution in our land and hopes to make ‘Theatre’ as career even though there are lots of hardships and difficulties as without all this life won’t be fun.” DU came into existence in August 2008 for which the society has in every respect given the credit to Hekali Zhimomi, Director NEZCC.
