ESI Scheme Dispensary in Kohima inaugurated

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The new Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Scheme Dispensary, Kohima located at Naga Bazaar (near KOHIMAS Hospital) was officially inaugurated and launched on December 12 by Er SL Wati Aier, Labour Commissioner, Nagaland. 

A DIPR report stated that the inauguration programme was chaired by Kewekote Teno, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kohima and dedicated by Pastor, Letulie Pienyü, Pezieliecie, CRC. Keynote address on ESI Scheme was delivered by Er SL Wati Aier, Labour Commissioner. 

Medical benefits of the scheme were highlighted by Dr Z Kheshito Zhimo, Administrative Medical officer, ESI Scheme, Dispensary Dimapur. Dr Kheshito stated that the scheme applies to all employers/proprietors of factories and industries, shops and establishments, medical institutions, educational institutions, newspaper establishments, contractors and suppliers, etc employing 10 or more workers drawing wages upto Rs. 21,000 per month and further said that all such establishments are mandatory to be registered under the ESI Scheme. 

The ESI Scheme provides benefits such as Sickness Benefit, Disablement Benefit, Dependents’ Benefit, Maternity Benefit and Medical Benefit for the workers/employees working under the above establishments/institutions. A brief highlight on ESI Scheme was shared by Mario Manirhü, Branch Manager, ESI, Dimapur and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Avile Vitso, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Directorate of Labour.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt of India, has notified for extension of the Employees State Insurance Scheme in new District of Kohima (all areas falling under Kohima Municipal Council) under Phase II of ESIC 2.0 from September 1, 2019. Therefore, all employees/proprietors are informed to immediately register their factories/establishments/institutions, etc under the said scheme so that their employees can avail the benefits of the scheme.
