These Roads need ‘some attention’
Dimapur | September 2 : These villages house the maximum number of brick kilns in Nagaland, but very few people are aware of the existence of these villages. Despite the fact that most of the houses in Nagaland are built from the bricks of these kilns, the infrastructure of these villages, remains much neglected.
Located east of Dimapur district, villagers of Zani, Bamunpukhuri I and II have not traveled in a ‘pucca road’ for a very long time. A good number of representations in the past have been forwarded by their village councils highlighting their grievances, to the department in concern, ministers and local leaders. But there has been very little or no response at all.
Patiently waiting for years now, Zani and Bamunpukhuri I villages submitted another such representation to G Kaito Aye, Minister for Roads & Bridges, who visited Zani village during the inaugural programme of a newly-built funeral chapel of New Naga Cemetery on August 23 last.
The representation of Zani village signed by chairman Ketsohu Vero, secretary Daniel Dozo and GBs Kolade Ladu and Thupuho Thuvoh, reminded that Zani village under Dimapur district was established during the year 1971 and was duly recognised by the Government of Nagaland in the year 1992. Basic amenities such as water supply, road and electricity are still ‘far lacking behind’. For this the village had been requesting the state government time and again.
Referring to the present road conditions, the representation stated that “the present kuccha road connecting our village from Purana Bazar passing through Bamun Pukhuri is in a miserable condition for which we submitted representation to your department during 2005, but still there is no any action.
The above same matter has also been pursued at your department level by Naga Council Dimapur since it will be benefit not only for few villages but will benefit of all public in general.” Also, the representation of Bamunpukhuri I village, which was signed by Bimal Jigdong, head GB and Ronju Johori, chairman also on behalf of Bamunpukhuri II village and Zani village was made. “Sir as you have experienced toady about the deplorable condition of our road which run from Darogajan village to Zani via Bamunpukhuri I village. For this we have had approached concern department, ministers and local leaders but pay no heed to our cry. But today we are very much happy as the honourable Minister of the concern department is happen to be in the midst of the public of this area. There is saying that good road leads the development of a society/area” the representation said.
The representation requested the minister to ‘kindly’ look into the matter ‘sympathetically’ and do the needful to make the road a ‘fareweather’ one which will lead to development of the area. However, both the head GBs and the chairman of Bamunpukhuri I pointed out that about 2 kms stretch of road leading to Bamunpukhuri II village from the point of diversion to the New Naga Cemetery from Bamunpukhuri I village are in a miserable condition.
