NUNTSA ceases all work in NU
Dimapur, November 18 (MExN): The Nagaland University Non-Teaching Staff Association has decided to intensify its agitation, by way of launching into total cease-work from November 18. The agitation is in response to what the association said is the failure of the university’s authorities to fulfill a charter of demands. The demands included “withdrawal” of a criminal case lodged against the NUNTSA president.
“This is due to non-fulfillment of NUNTSA’s charter of demands including withdrawal of criminal complaint lodged against its Medo Chirhah, president, at North Police Station, Kohima by the Registrar, N.U” stated a note from the NUNTSA today.
The NUNTSA stated that it has on several occasions requested the Registrar to withdraw the FIR lodged against the association’s president. This plea was also endorsed by the senior officers of the university, NUNTSA said. The NUNTSA had also submitted an 11-point charter of demands September 22 “which is still in cold storage despite several assurances.”
The association has viewed with serious concern “the habit of the vice chancellor and the Registrar of fleeing from the office whenever there is crisis in the university.” “This shows their lack of concern for the university affairs and lackadaisical attitude towards the welfare of the employees. The NUNTSA appeals to the student community and the general public to kindly appreciate our grievances and bear with the inconveniences,” the association added.

On a serious note, the president of NUTA should start campaining openly for the post of next VC...that way, we can also start lobbying ...this hidden agenda is working too well Ho
