‘The Naga Jedi’ takes local entertainment up a notch
The Naga Head Hunters Entertainment group released the film and also showcased their earlier films, followed by a discussion. Speaking to Liyo Kikon, one of the original founders of the group, he explained that they chose to term the film as “experimental” because their entertainment group is just in its initial phase right now. “We are not into full-scale production yet and the film ‘The Naga Jedi’ is just for promotional purposes, it’s just to make people aware of our capabilities,” Liyo says.
Liyo reveals that initially the entertainment group was started as a hobby. But once they started to make short films and uploaded them on the internet, the response from friends and viewers was overwhelming. “Our website was going crazy from the number of people visiting it, so we thought why not make a living out of it,” says Liyo. He also said that their trademark style is 3D effects. The movie is just a glimpse of what’s coming next, he promises. ‘Later we are going to use proper equipments. Right now you can say we are taking things a little lightly and our main focus is on special effects although we are focusing on the cinematography too,’ he explained.
The Naga Head Hunters entertainment is four youngsters barely in their mid-twenties. Liyo Kikon is the director of the entertainment group who does the film directing and editing and also is into website designing. Kele Yhoshu is into digital art coloring and 3D graphics, Imnawapang Longkumer is the one who does the artwork and character designing while Cynthia Kolakhe the lone female in this creative pack, is the one who does shading, texturing, and toning.
The group also has plans to shoot a music video soon for a local band ‘Azure Delusion.’ The song is about the end of the world he says. Showing streaks of the group’s satirical sense of humor he says that with the video they plan to virtually ‘blow’ Kohima. “We are going to re-animate Kohima,” he says. He also claims that the music video is going to be different. “We are going to change the way people look at music videos in Nagaland. It’s going to blow peoples mind,” he assures.
Liyo reveals that the group has a lot of future projects lined up and that their main priority is to provide quality, local entertainment. ‘The Naga Jedi’ will be available for free download at their official website Naga Head Hunters and also made available for free at certain outlets.
