Kohima | March 11 : Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today asserted that the hard work put in by the DAN government during its first term is finally showing positive results in all sectors. The people are reaping benefits from the foundations which DAN had  placed during its initial  years  of  governance, he claimed.
Speaking at the ‘thanksgiving service’ on the DAN government’s completion of two years, the chief minister attributed the ‘success’ of the government to the constant support on all fronts by civil society, government machineries and the bureaucracy. They have performed in the most exemplary manner during the  past  seven years of the DAN ministry, he commended.
Rio also said that in the second year of the DAN’s term,  the level of coordination has  improved leading to positive results on multiple fronts. The chief minister complimented the contributions of the DAN members, particularly the Independent members who he said have greatly contributed to  building  team-work and effectiveness. He expressed appreciation to each member of the DAN alliance.
“Tireless efforts of the party organizations at all levels and the effective role played by the party leaders has strengthened the government and steered the DAN ship afloat,” he said. Conveying his appreciation to the leaders and members of the political parties, he pledged to continue  upholding  the principles of democracy and collective responsibility in the effort  to deliver the goods to the people.
The chief minister said the thanksgiving has also come as a moment of retrospection with a view to correct ‘mistakes’ and to rededicate oneself in the service of the people. “On this occasion, let us rededicate ourselves to the service of the people and to our political goal of achieving permanent peace in Nagaland,” he said.  Agriculture Minister Dr. Chumben Murry, PHE Minister Ngangshi Ao and Urban Development Minister and NPF President Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu also exhorted the gathering.

Rio renews pledge to play facilitator’s role

Kohima | March 11 : Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today reiterated the DAN government’s commitment to play the role of facilitator while also renewing its offer of paving way for any alternative arrangement that may arise out of the political negotiations. The chief minister welcomed the new initiative taken by the “negotiating parties” in renewing the peace process at the highest level.
Speaking at the ‘thanksgiving service’ for the DAN government’s completion of two years,  Neiphiu Rio reiterated the government’s deep appreciation to the Naga underground groups for signing the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation.’ The move is paving the way for ‘greater unity and understanding’ and in the long run reduce fratricidal killings, he said. He expressed hope that it is only the beginning of a journey that  would bring lasting peace and oneness  in the land.
Rio also asserted that the government’s political stand of playing the role of active facilitator in the ongoing Indo-Naga political dialogue is being  fully supported by the people. He reiterated that the government will continue to support the peace process to arrive at a settlement that is honorable and acceptable to the people. In this, Neiphiu Rio said, the DAN Political Affairs Committee has worked tirelessly and their efforts are not going  in vain.
Two joint sittings and a special session on the Nagaland Legislative Assembly convened by Speaker Kiyaneilie Peseyie to address the Naga political issue has resulted in the formation of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Naga political issue, he said. He also expressed appreciation to the Opposition for the ‘positive role’ played in making this initiative a success so far and expressed gratitude to them.
Further, reminding that the voice of the Naga people for peace and reconciliation is loud and clear, he acknowledged the sterling role played by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation. He acknowledged the forum providing an appropriate platform and working whole-heartedly towards achieving the Nagas desire for peace and reconciliation.
