ANCSU ultimatum to VC, NUTA

Dimapur, March 20 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union today asked Nagaland University Teachers’ Association and the Vice Chancellor  of Nagaland University to resume classes “on or before 29th March”. The ANCSU said endless issues in Nagaland University have jeopardized the students’ careers. The ANCSU executives issued a ultimatum to both the NUTA and the VC today warning of “any form of measure to any extent against both the parties.”
The ANCSU said that the uncompromising attitude of both the parties in conflict is responsible for the state’s university getting  entangled in crises. A “memorandum of understanding” was signed between the NUTA and the VC on September 26, 2008 “in the presence” of Naga frontal organizations, the union said. But, the union lamented, “The crisis still lies unattended with the uncompromising attitude maintained by both the parties.”
The union said that the students’ community had  appealed to both the sides to “come together in spite of their differences, to amicably solve the issue in a democratic way.” But  the situation has only worsened with “series of events unfolding before us” even as the post-graduate students are agitating for resumption of classes. “So far no positive response had emerged from both the sides,” the ANCSU stated.
“While both the parties may have your say on the crisis yet the union strongly feels the inappropriateness in the modus operandi …framing charges against each other…directly depriving the students the right to education which is questionable….which in any way cannot be tolerated by any section of the society…” the ANCSU said.
