NSCN Khaplang allege assault at Athibung



DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN):  The Commanding Officer of Athibung Designated Camp NSCN Khaplang has informed that “barely a day after the visit of CFSB Chairman to Athibung, on February 7 evening at around 7 p.m., in the heart of Athibung town, Khehoi gang members in full uniform and armed and without any basis severely assaulted Manglem Kuki, second GB of Singzol village, Paongam Kuki, brother-in-law of Adjutant Athibung designated camp and Pangam Kuki, an uncle of Sgt. Paochum Kuki, People’s Army cadre. According to the press note Paongam was severely injured causing profuse bleeding and internal damage also, now under medication.  According to the press note, the assault was led by one 2nd Lt. Nasaka, L/Corporal Letmilel Kuki and Corporal Mankhui. “The act of venting frustration on innocent family members is wrong precedence and the consequence would be ugly if People’s Army react in equal measure”, stated the press note.

Condolence for Capt Wangpon & Pvt Wangke
Meanwhile in a separate press note, the NSCN/GPRN Khaplang condoled the deaths of compatriots Capt. Wangpon and Pvt. Wangke, who were killed according to a press note “in cold blood by Khole-Kitovi gang members on the evening of 7th February 2012 in Dimapur”.
While sharing the grief with the martyrs’ families, a press note issued by the MIP prayed for speedy recovery of the seriously injured cadre who managed to escape.
“The supreme sacrifices paid in blood and lives shall never be in vain but ever
honoured and emulated”, the MIP stated. It also stated: “May it be recorded for the posterity to refer that Khole Konyak has been the one and first Konyak leader to shed Konyak blood in disregard of the landmark peace covenant between various Naga political parties and leaders in which Khole himself played a major role”. According to the MIP press note, “the real Khole and his bitter bloody past that has been shrouded so far from the Nagas is beginning to be revealed gradually”.
