Appoint only the ‘suitable’ – teachers to Government

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): It is now the school teachers themselves who are appealing to the state government to recruit only people who are “suitable for the job” and has demanded that the recruiting authorities “stand firm” against “money power, unseen forces, political pressure, favoritism, nepotism and tribalism.”
The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) issued a press release today saying that “under no circumstances quality/value education of the future generation be compromised/deprived by chosen wrong person out of greed and immediate benefits.” Enough lessons have been learned in the past concerning the practice of back door appointment of teachers who were randomly appointed without adherence to rules and norm. This result in the quality of education suffering, the association reminded.
The ANSTA also reminded that only persons having grave concern for education be appointed for the job. “Let all the stake holding agency of education be act an agent of change for good and play a positive role in the current teacher’s recruitment drive instead of disturbing it for short term benefits.”
“The appointing/recruiting authority in the process of recruitment should stand firm against the vices of money power, unseen forces, political pressure, favoritism, nepotism and tribalism etc and pick–up only deserving candidates for the job,” the ANSTA stated.
According to the ANSTA “quality education is the talk of every walk of life” but “it is being declining in the present scenario of educational set-up in the state.” Quality education calls for quality teachers who are committed and dedicated to their chosen profession, the teachers said.
“Teaching is not every body’s cup of tea. It is not a soft option. It requires hard labour, sweat and tears. Only those who have got a genuine love for his calling will be able to do the job well.”
The ANSTA referred to the department of School Education undertaking mass teachers recruitment drive inclusive of GT, UGT & HT (of which written test for GT & UGT had already conducted and for HT it is to be held on 11th Feb. 2012). The association called it “an opportunity for government/department to appoint/recruit only competent and efficient persons who can inculcate quality education in the child as required by present society.”
“Appointment of incapable person to the posts will be a liability to the department as it kills the future career of the students and in this case appointing authority shall be held responsible. Therefore, in order to let the post of teachers be respectable/honorable, the need of hour is to recruit only suitable person(s) who are suitable/fitted for the job,” the association added.
