State Govt clarifies scholarship delay
Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The department of Higher Education has issued clarification on the scholarships for 2010-2011 on which students of an institute, SETAM, under Nagaland University are understood to have leveled a number of allegations.
Director of Higher education Chubainla Jamir issued a note today. The department said clear notifications have already been issued informing students to submit their personal bank account numbers, bank address, IFSC and a Xeroxed copy of the Bank Pass Book (Front Page) separately. This was done in implementing the new policy of making scholarship payments, for year 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 to students through the bank, the department said.
Further, the department is crediting the scholarship amount to the students’ accounts through banks based on the account number submitted by students for the year 2010-2011, the director said, and not on Xeroxed copy of the pass book which is attached to the scholarship application forms for the year 2011-2012. The reason is, the clarification said, the department receives more than 43, 000 scholarship application formers every year and the finalization of account number from these application forms of 2011-2012 will be done only after the process of scrutiny is completed.
In response to the said institution, the director said that the department had selected 12 students from SETAM to be awarded post-matric scholarship for Schedule Tribe students during 2010-2011.
“None of the students have submitted their bank pass book for the year 2010-2011. This is the reason why the department could not credit scholarship to their account. As per the record of 2011-2012, six students have enclosed the Xerox copies of bank pass book in the scholarship application forms and six students have not submitted their account number till date,” the clarification from the department stated.
The clarification requested students to rectify details beforehand and not defame the image of the department. “In spite of the sudden implementation of this new policy, the department is giving all its efforts in crediting scholarship to the students’ account through bank. However, it is found that many students have submitted wrong account number, wrong IFSC of the bank which is delaying the implementation process. Incase of any doubt or non receive of scholarship, students are informed to clarify the reasons from the department,” the response added.
