Another rape, this time by a Naga



Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): Another case of rape has been reported, this time from Chozuba sub-division under Phek district. A women’s and students’ organization alleged in a press release today that a 13-year-old girl, name withheld, was raped on February 6 by a man identified as one Thenusayi Rhakho of Suthozu Old Village. Chozuba Town Women Welfare Society and Youth Association and Chozuba Town Chakhesang Students’ Union issued separate notes today.    
“Chozuba Town Women Welfare Society and Youth Association condemned the atrocious crime committed by Thenusayi Rhakho of Suthozu Old Village under Chozuba Sub-Division who rape a 13 year old girl (name withheld). This inhuman act was committed on February 6, 2012 between 3 and 4 pm,” the women’s organization said in its press release.
In protest, the two societies organized protest rally on February 11, in which organizations representing various section of the people attended and strongly condemned the crime, the press release said.  
“The public resolved to press the government to take prompt action against the culprit and penalize with befitting legal action. Later, silent procession followed.”
 The organizations have ‘fervently’ urged every “intellectual” and right-thinking people to condemn such kinds of act and “give their full support to this organization in order to prevent this kind of heimes (sic) act to happen again in future for women folk and children security,” the women organization said.
 Also, Chozuba Town Chakhesang Students’ Union denounced the alleged rape of the girl, said to be a Class-V student. The union also named the said Thenusayi Rhakho of Suthozu Old Village, as the accused. Condemning the act, the union appealed to the law agencies to “take up stern action against the rapist accordingly.” The union expresses support and sympathy to the victim and her family. Any antisocial activity shall not be tolerated “in future also,” the union added in its note, appended by the organization’s President Rukutuzo Kapo.
