FNR appeals to Naga Churches



DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 22 (MExN): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has called for “critical solidarity and understanding from all the church denominations in the Naga context” and in this regard implored the churches to urge their members to attend the “Naga Reconciliation Meeting” on February 29, 2012 from 10:00am onwards at the Agri-Expo Centre, 4th Mile, Dimapur.

“The presence of every organization and individual at the Naga Reconciliation Meeting is essential, so that the people can clearly demonstrate the urgency for Reconciliation among Nagas and to demand an end to all internal strife”, stated a press note from the FNR while adding that “Reconciliation is the only way forward towards a shared Naga future”. The FNR appealed to all the churches to come and participate in this crucial and essential “Naga Reconciliation Meeting.”

“The message and work of Reconciliation has been at the core of Christian praxis. The Naga Churches and Church leaders have over the decades been at the forefront in the search for Naga Reconciliation. Since the formation of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), the various church institutions in the Naga context have constantly extended their fullest support towards the purpose and activities of Naga Reconciliation: A Journey of Common Hope”, stated the FNR.
 
Immediate call to cease all armed confrontation

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 22 (MExN): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) informed that it was earnestly pursuing at the highest level leadership of the concerned groups – GPRN/NSCN (Khehoi) and NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang) for an immediate cessation of all armed confrontation. “In following the assertion and willingness given by them, the FNR makes this urgent plea to the army commanders of the two confronting groups to instruct its cadres to cease all armed confrontation with immediate effect”, stated a press note issued by the FNR. It has further requested the concerned authorities to “issue a standing order to stand down and for all its ranks and file to follow this assertion dutifully”.
