The Morung Express :: Nagaland News | Current News | Latest News | Breaking News: Heroin worth Rs. 4 crore + seized Heroin worth Rs. 4 crore + seized ================================================================================ Our Correspondent | Kohima | April 2 on April 03, 2012 07:59:00 Narcotic Cell (INT) personnel with two accused along with seized consignment of Heroin.(Morung Photo) The State’s narcotic cell (INT) on Sunday seized 2.5 kg consignment of Heroin worth over Rs. 4 crore at the international market during a routine checking at the narcotic cell check gate Chumukedima. So far, this is the highest quantity consignment of Heroin seized by Narcotic Cell in Nagaland, police said. The seizure was made during a daily routine frisking at the Narcotic Cell check gate, Chumukedima last night at around 6 PM and two persons have been apprehended in this connection. Head constable Omatsungba told media persons that during a routine checking at Narcotic Cell check gate Chumukedima, suspicion developed after a suitcase belonging to a passenger travelling by bus from Imphal was found extraordinarily heavy. Police said on opening a suitcase, a consignment of Heroin was found, carefully packed in 3 plastic bags and concealed in the suitcase. The said passenger later apprehended by Narcotic Cell (INT), was identified as one Md. Sajad Khan, 28, s/o of Late Ashand Ali, Vill- Kshetri Gaon, Dist- Imphal East, PO/PS Singjamei Porompat, P/A- Kshetri Gaon (Village). Further, after gathering information through interrogation from the former that another person was waiting for him at the Blue Hill Station, Dimapur, the Narcotic Cell (INT) Dimapur team headed by SI Imtikumba rushed to the spot and apprehended the latter at around 8: 00 PM, who was identified as Riyajuddin, 28, s/o Jaladin, Vill- Kshetri Gaon, Dist- Imphal East, PO/PS- Singjamei Porompat, P/A- Kshetri Gaon (Village). During interrogation, police said, the duo stated the consignment of Heroin was meant to be delivered to Guwahati with a journey charge of Rs. 5000 each till Dimapur and another Rs. 15,000 each upto Guwahati.
