July 19 shooting: Rivals trade accusation
DIMAPUR, JULY 22 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN and the NSCN-K are pointing fingers at each other over the July 19 shooting incident at Murghi Patti in Dimapur baffling the police, investigating the case. As reported earlier, unidentified gunmen had shot at a car (AS-04J-5495) driven by one Inaho, reported to be a ‘khabur’ in the GPRN/NSCN. The person managed to escape after the bullets got lodged in the headrest of the front passenger seat.
Police had taken custody of the car abandoned by the victim after the failed life bid. Later, one person claiming to be a functionary of the GPRN/NSCN came to the police station with the keys of the car.
Reliable sources said that the person with the keys had disclosed to police the identity of the victim while claiming he was also a GPRN/NSCN functionary.
The NSCN-K on the other hand is claiming that the car left abandoned belongs to them. This has led to the rivals blaming each other for the shooting in a thickly populated area and that too in broad daylight.
