NSCN Khaplang no to ‘factional solution’

The Naga peace process is in a sticky wicket with NSCN Khaplang and other groups strongly dismissing that in the event of NSCN (IM) bringing any solution it will be only a factional solution. Talking to Newmai News Network tonight, NSCN Khaplang senior kilonser (minister) Wangtin Konyak said, “We are fighting for sovereignty of the Nagas. This is the desire of the Naga people.”
Wangtin Konyak said that under no circumstances, the NSCN (K) will be a part of any settlement brought about from the ongoing talk between New Delhi and NSCN (IM). “Whatever solution the NSCN-IM may bring, it is only a factional solution. Naga issue is a Naga national issue. It cannot be solved only by a faction. The Naga political issue is unique but the government of India refuses to acknowledge our nationhood which is equally demeaning the very existence of Indian nationhood,” the NSCN-K leader explained.
Wangtin also stated that “Nagas had fought the British not for the Indian independence but for the Naga sovereignty and in the same time, the Indians had fought the Britishers not for the Naga cause, but the government of India imposes their grip on the Nagas till today.”
Wangtin then disclosed that when the Joint Legislature Forum (JLF), the forum of 60 MLAs of Nagaland legislative assembly, headed by chief minister Neiphiu Rio met few days ago with the NSCN (K) leaders, the latter had told the chief minister and his team the 60 MLAs of Nagaland are acting in favour of the NSCN faction led by Thuingaleng Muivah and Isak Chishi Swu.
“What did these 60 MLAs of Nagaland went to New Delhi and told the central leaders (GOI) that they are ready to vacate their seats for Naga solution when the talk is involved only by one Naga faction?” asks Wangtin, adding, “This act of Neiphiu Rio and his team amounts to favouring only the NSCN (IM) and ignores the rest of the Naga political groups.”
Wangtin claimed he had told this thing to Neiphiu Rio and his team recently in the meeting. “We are yet to enter into a dialogue process with the government of India but the 60 MLAs of Nagaland have decided to vacate their seats for solution. In that event, who will fill their seats? The NSCN-IM or others? But never the NSCN (his outfit headed by Khaplang)”, Wangtin said.

Mr.Rio, his goverment and the 60 MLAs have in a haste made a grave blunder in the chapter of the Nagas by jumping into a cauldron without thinking twice. It is ridiculous to wonder that they are trying to mend and undo what has already been eered. Our issue and struggle is not some child's play that anyone can rule a judgement without taking the views of the Naga people into consideration. Whether it is the NSCN(I-M) or the NSCN(K), all factions must be brought under one roof to resolve the Naga issue.

Most of the factions cadres are uneducated and unfit to lead the whole nation. Yet, talking high to be on the table to reason out the vexed political struggle. I wonder, what we are going to reason out, when we are not in a position to understand our factional problem.... One venom that is biting the Nagas cadres is to materialize one's thought:"I want to be the head" or "I must bring the solution and not others". Nagas have two options at hand: (i) To stop seeing and judging "WHO" is to bring the SOLUTION, but to look at "WHAT" is the SOLUTION, and to reason with the a thought in mind "Is this the best solution that could be brought at this global village?" (ii)If there is no compromising point among the factions, then "Survival of the Fittest" seems practicable.

60 NAGA MLAs AND THE WHOLE NAGAS, except other underground factions who want to bring solution in their names and some people with bitter hatred against nscn (im), HAVE LEARNT THAT MORE THAN EIGHT DECADES OF STRUGGLE IS ENOUGH. This struggle has done enough harm to the Naga society especially to younger generation. It has deprived Nagas from many opportunities. It has greatly affected to the education of Naga students. It has blocked development in Naga areas. It has done great damage on the relationship of different tribes. It has given birth to different DANGEROUS factional groups. It has caused to the Nagas great sufferings in the hands of these foolish national workers. How can Nagas keep on waiting for these foolish national workers to bring sovereignty? What can they do if Indian ignored them forever? Can they force GoI? Can they even talk? What can they do more than torturing Nagas and collecting money? It will remain the same forever if Nagas rely on these so called national workers of different factions. Now Nagas say enough is enough. Naga undergrounds are nothing more than garbage now. They can neither talk to Indian leaders nor can they improve Naga political situation. Khaplang (Mr Wangtin) is questioning who will fill the seats of 60 MLAs. Let him fill it all. But let the solution be there for Nagas. Solution is the need of the hour for Nagas.

Nagas now see that our factional groups who keep barking on SOVEREIGNTY without knowing its meaning, will make Naga issue worse than ever and reduce the whole Naga political issue into mere factional issue whereby Indian army plays a role of peacemaker. Naga leaders and true followers now see that other factional groups are working hard to destroy the mandate of Nagas given NSCN (IM) to bring solution by harping on inclusion of all political groups in the talk. Nagas now understand that the point of inclusion in the talk is not for unity but to be the ‘head’ and accupy the seat of any solution. They are neither for SOVERIEGNTY nor can they fight for SOVEREIGNTY.
