‘Women should bring out their inner strength’

Dimapur, March 10 (MExN): The National Domestic Workers’ Movement Nagaland Region today, March 10 celebrated International Women’s Day and also inaugurated an exhibition stall. The event was held at Assisi Hall in Dimapur. The exhibition stall was inaugurated by General Manager of NABBARD, regional office, Dr. U S Saha.
The General Manager of NABARD, who was the chief guest at the event, empathised that women need to bring out their inner strength and work together to bring change in the society. He also said that he is impressed with the products displayed in the stall. Stating that it shows what they are capable of.
On women empowerment, he said they have taken the first step and urged them to climb higher in uplifting the status of women in the society.
The general manager also said NABARD has opened its door to the unprivileged and he will try his best to assist them in every way. He encouraged the Self help Groups (SHGs) to continue their work and progress further.
The founder and director of Exotic Echo Sonnie Kath exhorted the gathering and emphasised that women should also support their family financially. Stating that a woman who depends on her husband alone would not help a family to grow.
She said every successful individuals and organisations started from grass root level. Hard work and sincerity helped them to reach the top. “If you cannot help yourself, you cannot help others.”
She also said most of the people are setting up SHGs without a purpose. On which she said some do that to get benefits from government and later the group dissolves. Regarding Exotic Echo, she said it has helped so many SHGs and has sponsored children for their education.
Also, various talents were displayed during the programme. The students of Skill Development Institute performed “prayer dance and Hindi dance”, Ekhung group presented a short skit, Khushi group presented a song, Karbi dance by Chengthur group and Kachari dance by Moromi group.
