Nagaland gets World Class Eye Center

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): Mercy Eye Center, today, dedicated their Constellation machine and Laser machine used in advanced eye surgery, and in the process, placed Nagaland amongst the world of advanced eye care. The Constellation machine from Alcon is the first to be installed in the entire North East. The Center provides high level eye care including cataract surgery by Phaco-emulsification (using ultrasound energy), Phaco-Refractive surgery, Retinal surgery, Laser surgery etc. The center is run by Dr. Chingkup Konyak and his wife, Dr. Sharon Rungsung – both highly qualified surgeons trained in the Dominican Republic. Both the Doctors are certified by International Council of Ophthalmology, UK, and are members of Medical Ministries International and American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Rev. Dr. Pongsing Konyak, Director, Medical Ministries International (MMI), dedicated the Doctors and the Equipments in prayer. Rev. Pongsing, talking during the dedication, thanked God for their lives and their healing ministries.

Rev. Pongsing informed that MMI plans to launch International Institute of Ophthalmology sometime next year in Chumukedima, where both Dr. Chingkup and Dr. Sharon will provide their services in treating poor patients and train ophthalmic technicians and post graduate ophthalmology students.

The Doctor couple, pleased with their latest addition, expressed that Nagas, now, don’t have to go outside of the state in search of advanced eye treatment. The first retinal surgery in the state is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at the center.
