IWS raise funds for disabled & underprivileged
Members of Incessant Welfare Society along with others during the sales day organised for fund raiser on July 7.
Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): The Incessant Welfare Society (IWS) held a sales day on July 7th morning to raise funds for the disabled and the underprivileged families of the colony.
The sales day was inaugurated by Kiyasezonuo Solo, wife of the colony GB. Exhorting on the occasion, Anungla, General Secretary Lerie Women Organisation commented on the fact that Lerie is a happening colony and that an active society signifies a healthy society. She further noted that ‘we live in a time when we hear very little of giving to others, but often hear of how to take from others and that, many SHGs exist only to help themselves.’ Lauding the noble tasks undertaken by the Incessant Welfare Societies/SHGs mushrooming everywhere to learn to give.
The sales day was graced by the GB of the colony, members of the Lerie Women Organization (LWO), various SHGs located in the colony and residents and well wishers of the welfare society.
Around four families and two disable were visited by the managing members of the society and distributed basic essential needs to them.
The Incessant Welfare Society had earlier conducted a training programme at Lerie colony on Modern Designing from 19th-29th June 2012, where around 10 young girls from the less privileged families were taught the basic skills on handicrafts which included items like multipurpose cards with traditional motifs, mobile holder bags, curtain holders, kitchen mates, doormats, paper bags etc. It was the product of this training program that was put up for the Sales Day.
