Khonoma Rüffüno sports meet underway

Kohima, August 22 (MExN): The sports meet of Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland (KRN) got underway today at Keziekie Ground, Khonoma.

Gracing the opening ceremony, Rovilato Mor, (IAS) Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing stated that the village should remain grateful to the forefathers who had initiated the Rüffüno. 

Mor maintained that Khonoma Rüffüno (KR) may probably be the first and the oldest set up, since it was set up in 1944. 

He expressed that the village should remain grateful to the forefathers for their visionary outlook in setting up the KR, which he maintained was set up to come together and to have fellowship with each other. 

He stated that the Jubilee Committee, in commemorating its 75 years celebration has decided to have sports and games for better understanding and friendship among the younger generation. 

Reflecting back on Khonoma- British war, 1879, Mor maintained that the village had “solid unity”. 

He added that the people were of one mind and thus, they were able to fight against the British Empire.

The ceremony also saw the unveiling of waist coat and dress in commemoration of the 75 years anniversary.
