Plight on NU

•Sir-It’s almost 15 years now since the inception of Nagaland University and by now it is old enough to be a reputed University. But today, it is being reputed all for a wrong reason.
The condition of NU is highly deplorable. Institutions are scattered and located in a place not conductive to learning environment. The mode of administration is highly penitent. The schedule yearly calendars are rarely followed. The authorities usually reschedule the time and date of exam and events at their own discretion now and then creating huge inconvenience for the students.
Many promises have been made to the students but are rarely fulfilled. Had all those big promises being implemented, Nagaland University would have been shining by now. It has been told by the VC that the entire department would be shifted to the new campus by March 2008. The VC must remember that it’s August 2008, and shifting the entire department to the new campus even by the end of the year doesn’t seems to be in the offing. There is always assurance but action never done.
As a Central University, there can never be dearth of fund. Then, how could the University be so pathetic when crores and criores of rupees has been sanctioned. We suspect there is some serious insidious in the set up.
The rift between the VC and the NUTA is felt by the students when classes are called off and the academic portion gets stagnated. It must be remembered that the Nagaland University exists only for the students and that, students cause should be the first priority and must be overlooked for any other cause.
It’s a big irony that the VC instead of resolving the issue amicably has further aggravated the situation by suspending two lecturers thereby affecting the regular classes when everything seems normal. The students will no longer remain a silent spectator, and in the event of any untoward incident arising out of this issue, the VC will be solely responsible to it. If student’s cause in the topmost priority of the VC as he says, then he is expected to resolve the issue as soon as possible without causing further inconvenience to the students.

Moved all the campuses to Lumami, then the truth will become visible. Who is serious and who is not.MAke lodging arrangements for all lecturers to live within the campuses itself like any other universities. I think its only then that we the public can judge who is a serious lectureer and who is a salary lecturer :)

Why insist on moving all campuses to same location. The university can function efficiently provided concerned teachers have accommodation in their respective campus. It is the management of the university that comes under a full glare. Teachers opposed to VC and VC giving a damn to teachers. Even if VC is replaced, these teachers are used to opposing VC. A rare disease has inflicted our only university. Solution? Recall VC and sack all the teachers. And Nagaland University will be fine. Instead of accomplishing in their academic profession, these teachers have earned the dubious fame-penchant for strike.
