Students stand to lose

•Sir - Our attention has been attracted by the ongoing impasse between Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor and Nagaland University Teachers Association which has affected the normal functioning of Nagaland University particularly Naga Students.
As senior citizen and an observer, unlike in the past agitations all the components of the University is discontent against the present VC which shows something is wrong with the system particularly with the present VC.
Since, the University is meant for the students and people of Nagaland, for which any VC whosoever, wherever he has come from, should look after the interest of the students, teachers, staffs and the people of the state. Under no circumstances, the VC can effort to go against the wishes of the people to whom he has come to serve for. As for as the teachers concerned, whatever may be the argument for or against, if there is no peace of mind with the teachers or if the teachers are not content with the system, they cannot impart quality education for which our younger Naga generation shall be at loss. Since the teachers are the conscience keepers of the society and creator and dissemination of knowledge to the people.
Hence as concerned citizens, we opine that the VC should try to solve the problems by way of revoking the suspension order of the 10 (ten) teachers whom he has suspended, or else if his remaining as VC is a stumbling block for growth of academic development of the state, he should resign and go back in the interest of the students career and the people of the state because the interest of the Naga students is paramount important than that of individual interest because the larger interest of the Naga people should not be sacrifice at the altar of individual interest.
We are shocked that VC instead of revoking the suspension order of the two teachers demanded by the NUTA and other apex students bodies like NSF and PGSU, he has defied their request and suspended eight more teachers which means he has no concern for the welfare of the students but inviting more problems for himself and aggravating the situation, where any intelligible administrative officer with cool head will tackle situation in such a way that it will be acceptable to the aggrieved party.
In the light of the present circumstances, if the VC started suspending all the teachers he should come and teach the students or revoke the suspension order of all the teachers. Otherwise, the situation shall worsen which will go out of hand that nobody will be able to control.
Hence, we urge all the student bodies, parents and guardian, NGOs and Civil  Societies should intervene that VC should come to terms with teachers or else he has to resign and go back in the interest of the welfare of our Naga children’s and our future Naga generation.

It will be wise to find out why these teachers were suspended.

Just because they are teachers doesn't mean that they are always "right". There are many teachers who are NOT qualified to be teaching. I shudder to think that my children should be learning under someone who knows how to get his/her wishes done through unethical means.
If NUTA needs a cleansing, be it 2 or 10...it is better to remove 10 "teachers" and save the plight of thousands of students.

Think about the students...the teachers have had their way.

Most of us knows the 2 teachers since they were the kingpin in this whole episode. one of them partuclarly spearheaded since the first VC. The seocnd one, looks like caught up in a gust and blinded in the windwhirl. All said and done, whether the VC stays or goes, I think this two teachers should not be taken back. We have no guranteer who will stand for them and Us and say, they will not go against the next VC.whatever they may say, we know, it is just a few teachers. The rest are there giving moral support for the sake of their body.another point is those two guys registrar and the treasurer? it looks like they are the catalyst here. How come we havnt heard enough of them through our NUTA spokesperson? VC may or may not be guilty, the fact is when you keep repeating the same too many times it becomes irritating for others...

Well, am so pain to see all these impasse in the NU from its inception. I am not going against anyone or supporting anyone. But the VC suspending the teachers is not in the right direction. Investigation has to be done and if needed, whoever has to be suspended must be done accordingly. The VC is on the receiving end because of his action (Suspending). After proper investigation only suspension should take place. As for now, let the VC cancel that suspension and ask/request for a proper investigation in which all the concerned orgnisation should be taken into consideration. At the end everyone must be satisfied by the investigation and the main culprit must be made to pay. We should not allow anyone to take the NU for a ride; be he/she a teacher, student, NUTA, student body, politicians, NU employees, or for that matter even the VC. This impasse must be a State issue and not only the NU because the future is at stake.

With due respect, senior citizens, your understanding of how university runs is outdated. Please appeal to all groups involved but do not demand or point finger at VC simply. Watch out some of your beloved teachers are in disguise!

Am sure the VC suspended the teachers because they must have done something that is not in line with the education system.

Like it or not... teachers are at fault.
I think junior citizen is right. I hear two teachers are spearheading this unrest...
