An appraisal on the Zarü Water Project for Kohima
•- As stated above, it might be noted that even after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the State Government and the Village Councils (Mima and Kezoma); the highlighting made by Neiphiu Rio, the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Dr.Ngangshi K. Ao Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in their Independence Day address on 15th August, 2011, still we have not heard anything from State Government and the concerned Department about the implementation of the Project.
According to the commitment as reported through the media, the project (More then Rs.40 crore was sanctioned and out of which Rs.29 crore had already been received from the centre) was to be in the course of action from October 2011 and come to the finishing point by 2012.
I am writing this because it is utterly disheartening to see our elected Government’s negligence in their responsibilities and their lack of compassion to the plights of the general public. When Crores of Rupees are sanctioned for the said project from the Central Government and Kohima being surrounded by very fine water resources, it is awfully disappointing to see people in our land still in misery of water, buying water, spending sleepless nights fetching water and without a hint of hope.
I hope this sincere query will be taken into consideration with correct measures. Thus with this hope, I present this heartfelt request to the concerned authorities longing to hear their reliable information and to clear doubts about the implementation and completion of the project in as special and noticeable way at the stipulated time.
