Alas! The condition of the Civil Secretariat’s common washrooms

•- The laments of the working commoners (no offence intended) in the Secretariat can be heard (smelled) across the corridors of the big building.  People above the working commoners should hear or smell how the maintenance of this highest office in Nagaland is being done.
One should take note of these washrooms especially opposite Forest Department, when you step inside you can see the flow of septic tanks like those molten lavas from the eruption of a volcano (obviously not hot). To top it all, the buzzing of flies around the tables of the sections where the real commoners sit the whole day slaving away to glory shuffling through files and papers (of course those people get their salaries for that) but just put yourself in their shoes, you wouldn’t even begin to imagine their pathetic situation.
Alas! What a beautiful and aromatic scenario in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat!

I believe many of my brothers and sisters bloggers have been to Nagaland's highest office, 'The Secreteriat building.' I was compelled to share this after having called up one of my friends in kohima to know what the current condition is today. I recall some years back when I went to use one of the washrooms in the building and was taken by surprise. The condition was pathetic and unusable. The washrooms were stinking with flies with water flooding everywhere. On the walls and in every nook and corner of the building were colourful spits of betelnut and lime not needing any paint. One of the washrooms was locked and I asked a staff if I could use it to which he replied that it was meant for the VIPs. Hundreds and thousands of people throng the secreteriat everyday from near and far, being the highest office in Nagaland, a little maintenance could have done no harm. If I am not wrong, there are also staffs who are being paid for who have been distributed the work to clean and maintain the washrooms and the campus. It is a shame for all of us if we cannot maintain our highest office in good order. The concerned authorities must be reminded to take steps to imbibe 'Civic Sense' into the minds of the visitors and also the staffs in the building.
