RJD Mokokchung expels

DIMAPUR : As per information received from the RJD Office in Mokokchung district, an emergency State Executive meeting was held on January 5 at 10:00 am at the residence of the party president. Informing this in a press release issued by the RJD president of Nagaland State Unit, Khetovi Kinny, the meeting was said to have viewed seriously the present situation of Mokokchung district where it was found that some persons had been involved in anti-party activities. In this regard, the party members resolved to expel vice presidents of Mokokchung RJD, Wapong and Shilu, and its youth president, Yimya Jamir, for a period of six years.

CM to grace 45th KSU general session

Tuensang : The 45th general session of the Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) under the theme ‘Consolidation of education’, will be held from January 14 to 16, 2009, at Thsoiphu (Chipur) village, under Thonoknyu sub-division. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will be the chief guest at the inaugural session while S Heno, Parliamentary Secretary for fishery, relief & rehabilitation, will grace the valedictory session as the chief guest. A Miss Khiamniungan Beauty Pageant 2009 under the theme ‘Dignity of Women’ will also be held, which will have C Pusho, PS to the Parliamentary Secretary, as guest of honour. A press note issued by KSU finance secretary H Mongchon has invited all federating units, invitees, elders and well-wishers to the session, and informed that all concerned officials are to reach Noklak by January 10.

CTC on trade licence

Dimapur : The Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) has informed for the benefit of all business establishments and firms within its jurisdiction that the renewal and fresh registration of trade licences for 2009 will commence from January 19 upto February. Neichu-U Kuotsu, chairperson of CTC, has in a press note directed all shops, factories and agencies to renew their trade licence or register their firms (for those ‘newly open’) within the stipulated period without fail. “Failure to comply with the above notification shall invite necessary action as deemed fit and proper. The rate of trade licence shall remain same as in 2008,” the CTC added.

15th KTSU general session held

Dimapur : The 15th annual general session of the Kuhuboto Town Students’ Union (KTSU) was held on December 20, 2008, at Central Academy School. The highlights of the session include literary competitions and awards presented to students who secured academic excellence in various capacities. The speaker for the session, Inaho Yeputho, M.Div, emphasised on the topic ‘Education and its Imperative Approach’. Altogether about 300 students attended the session. Informing this in a press release issued by Vitoka H Yeputho, KTSU President, the Union urged all the newly elected office bearers of Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union for the tenure 2009-10, and headed by Botoi V Yeputhomi as President, to work for the betterment of the students’ welfare.

Rio to grace HVSU golden jubilee

Kohima : State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is to grace the inaugural function of the 43rd Yimchungrü Students’ conference and golden jubilee celebrations of Huker Village Students Union at Huker village on January 9 at 10:30 am. Parliamentary Secretary for information & public relations and economics & statistics, R Tohanba, will be the guest of honour at the HVSU Golden Jubilee celebrations. Minister for roads & bridges, G Kaito will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function at 5 pm on January 11. The programme is being held under the theme ‘Awakening of Human Development’.

Saku Aier to grace conference

Mokokchung : Parliamentary Secretary for housing & sericulture, Er. Saku Aier, will grace the General Conference of the Tzürangkong Students’ Union as chief guest. The conference will be held at Watiyim village under Mokokchung district from January 7 to 9 this year. Student delegates from the range are to attend the conference.

TVSU golden jubilee on Jan 8, 9

Dimapur : The Tuensang Village Students’ Union will celebrate its golden jubilee on January 8 and 9 with the theme ‘Inexhaustible Power’. S Heno Khiam, Parliamentary Secretary for fisheries, relief & rehabilitation and printing & stationary, will grace the celebration as chief guest, while MLA Kejong Chang will be the guest of honour during the cultural programme. K Thungti Chang, chairman of the  golden jubilee planning committee of TVSU, in a press release has invited all its student members, former leaders, GBs, government officials, public leaders and well-wishers to the jubilee.

GSU holds 47th session

Dimapur : The Gaili Students’ Union (Nagaland) held its 47th session-cum-tournament from December 29 to 31, 2008, with Khehoto Sema, Assistant Director of social welfare, as chief guest and llu Ndang, former general secretary of NSF, as chief of honour. Khehoto in his inaugural speech exhorted the students to “come out with a vision as to complete and obtain higher and quality education so that one may become as officer of high rank even in service.” He donated Rs.20,000 towards the Union. llu Ndang encouraged the students to work towards betterment of the Union and the village, and also contributed Rs.2000 towards the Union. Stating this in a press release, GSU secretary Teibam informed that the session also elected its new team of office bearers for the tenure of 2009-12 with Ngimdai Kaikube as president, vice president Teizeu, general secretary Teibam, assistant general secretary Peurai, finance secretary Irecha, and Hangda as information secretary. In addition, a championship was also held at the venue. Meritorious awards with cash amount were given to first division holders in different categories.
