Consumer awareness seminar on Nov 21
Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): The Consumer Society Dimapur District and Nagaland Voluntary Consumer Organisation are jointly organising a consumer awareness seminar on November 21 at Dimapur under the theme ‘Consumers are to be protected.’ Nikhashe Sema, Chief Executive Officer (DMC) will be the chief guest and Kezhokhoto Savi, advocate also president of NVCO will be the speaker. All CSDD are requested to attend the seminar.
NYKS folksong group competition in Dec 18
Kohima, November 17 (DIPR): The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Kohima district, Nagaland, is sponsoring a cultural group competition for folksong organised by the Makro Cultural Society, to be held on December 18 at Kidima village. The Makro Cultural Society, Kidima, was the recipient of the Best Youth Club award in Kohima district from the Nehru Yuva Kendra in the year 2006-07, and best development award Khel amongst Kidima villages from the Village Development Board 2008-09. The first, second and third prizes at the competition will be awarded in three categories. Those cultural troupes interested to take part in the competition have been directed to contact at 9774418239 for detailed information latest by December 15, 2009.
Training held on winter seeds
Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): A day long farmers training cum distribution of winter seeds was organised and conducted by the department of Agriculture on November 16 at Mitriki Project, Tuensang Road with Setduba Sangtam, AFA as the resource person. About 45 farmers from Insekiur, Phelongre and Old & New Resethse villages attended the programme. G. Kiyevi Sumi, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Kiphire in a press release said that the training concluded with distribution of winter seeds.
ANEFWA elects new advisors, office bearers
Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Association (ANEFWA) held an executive meeting on November 11 in Kohima where an official handing and taking over of the office properties and financial matters were done. The house also unanimously elected the advisory team which comprises of G Sema, K Vitoi Sumi, I Bendang Jamir and Rendimeren. The office bearers will be led by president Panger Pongen, vice president Kelhousevi Angami, general secretary Megokhoto Angmai, joint secretary N Lotha, finance secretary Ayeto Sumi, treasurer Tepuhosul Angami and Action Committee chairman Khenito Sumi. Their tenure will last between 2009-2012.
Thahekhu Village celebrates Ahuna
Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): School Colony of Thahekhu Village celebrated Ahuna festival. The celebration was held at the residence of Y Hewoto Awomi, MLA where various competitions on Sumi traditional games like “top spinning, cock fighting, fire making and folk songs were presented by men and women”, stated a press note received here. It stated that the MLA in his welcome speech extended warm Ahuna greetings on behalf of his family and thanked the members for organizing such cultural event which is handed down by our fore-fathers. The celebration began with invocation prayer by Ihoto Yeptho while Rev. Dr. Yehevi Jimo, pastor of Thahekhu Baptist Church said the blessing prayer. Ihoto Chishi spoke on the significance of Ahuna festival which is a post harvest celebration.
