‘Media should not run only after the government’

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Press Day was celebrated on November 16 last under the theme ‘The changing face of Indian media with special reference to Nagaland’. Stating his observation, BJP Nagaland’s president, M Chuba Ao, felt that media has tremendously developed within the span of 40 years in the country as well as in Nagaland.
However, the BJP leader stressed, there are still many media that have entered our personal life with tabloid form of news, whereas news of upliftment of the people and delivery of justice for the unprivileged people remain silent. “Media should not run after the government only for inaugural function, chief guest, attending in seminar conference news, etc., to make headline or breaking news. They should also project what was said about the society/organisation/government and whether it was implemented or not,” a statement issued by the BJP Nagaland president added.
Further, stated Chuba Ao, “it is observed in Nagaland that opposition political party statement are twisted by the vested interested media persons and unable to correct the wrong policies of the government and allow them to infiltrate into the world of corruption practice.” While advising mediapersons to be dedicated towards their work, Chuba Ao encouraged the media in Nagaland to come forward and contribute positive views in order to make a peaceful and prosperous state and “deliver justice to the people”.
