‘Live positively and have positive attitude’

Kiphire | November 27 : KpNP+ on November 26 held an interaction meeting with the PLHIVS, Service providers and caretakers supported by the Population foundation of India (PFI) at the Hopongkyu memorial hall with staffs from PFI, NNP+ concern citizens and Red Cross members.
Vitsiatho Nyuwi Assistant State co-coordinator PFI spoke on the objectives of interaction meeting and ACT programme on Nagaland, where he elaborate in detail about various Acts functioning and implemented in Nagaland. He also extended gratitude for positive response from various corners in making the programme a success.
Speaking on behalf of the Positive people Khupai said, ‘Life is a gift from God which is precious” and asked the people present to live positively and have positive attitude towards life. She also said, “In the past people know less about HIV/AIDS because of which we are discriminated sometimes but now our society know all about it and we don’t have any problem from our people.” She also encourages the gathering to take her as an example and move forward. ‘Though I am positive I can give quality life and is capable of doing everything,” she added.
Secretary IRCS Kiphire branch who was also present at the occasion appreciated the courage and boldness that the positive people have shown in coming forward to disclose one’s status for positive change in the society. He also said, ‘let’s not dig the past, but look forward and move ahead for positive change. Referring from the scripture he said, ‘you be like that Samaritan women who saved many people after meeting Jesus at the well, you can save many people than most of us today and encourage the gathering not to shy away in disclosing one’s status.
Concern citizen S. J. Levi Keor who was also present at the occasion called upon the positive people to have positive attitude towards life. ‘Nothing is certain in this world but one thing is certain that is death where we all are going to meet that fate one day so don’t be discourage of one’s status,” he added. T. Katiry a social activist who also spoke on the occasion called upon the gathering to have proper diet to have good and contented life.
Earlier, Tia President KpNP+ welcomed the gathering and expressed happiness to the visiting team for coming all the way from Kohima to educate them. The day was also marked with a role play, group discussion and lively interaction session led by Victor, State Program Associate NNP+
Azo inaugurates CAPO hall at Chokriba
Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Chokri Area Public organization (CAPO) hall at Chokriba was inaugurated by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, Minister for health and family welfare, Nagaland on November 26, 2009. In his speech, Azo admonished the rampant disregard of public property by some people and stressed the importance of reciprocity on the part of the public by developing a sense of ownership for such developmental works. He also advised the people of the area to nurture their leaders. He had earlier sanctioned Rs. 5 lakhs for construction of HSC at Chokriba. He further donated Rs 1 lakh towards maintenance of the function.
Chotisu Sazo, parliamentary secretary, social welfare and child and women development, also spoke on the occasion. He advised the public not to impose any impediment on land and other relevant matters on developmental works. He said, “The medicinal plants and other natural resources available in our area should be preserved and developed instead of exploiting it.” He further enlightened the public on the DAN governance initiative on the Naga political solution under the able leadership of Neiphiu Rio.
The function was presided over by Vethikhoyi Khamo, president CAPO. Invocation and benediction were said by Krosayi Nyekha, chairman CABCC, and Rev. K.Rhakho, pastor TBC, respectively. Vemesu Tetseo, Press Secretary, CAPO in a press release said that earlier, folk dance and folk song were presented by Thipuzu Village and Thinizu Village respectively and Tavehu Thingo, ex president CAPO, gave the construction report. Shupranyi, vice president CAPO gave the vote of thanks.

‘Handloom and handicraft is the backbone of NE’
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 27 (MExN): The 5th National Handloom Expo organized by the Development Commissioner (Handloom), Ministry of Textile, Government of India began today at the Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur. Maongwati Aier, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur inaugurated the 15-day long exhibition.
Expressing his view, Maongwati Aier said that handloom and handcraft is the backbone of North East India. “Handloom and handicraft industry not only generate employment to the people but also gives a lot of revenue to the village inhabitants, urban people and the state government. It is the backbone of our region and that the very industry should go further and further”, Aier asserted. Maintaining that many countries are in demand for North East India’s handloom and handicrafts products, he articulated that the mounting demands shows that the North East India’s handloom and handicrafts products have become popular all over the world. In order to meet the increasing demand of all the North East Asian and other countries, Aier said that it will be possible only when “we mechanize the products”. In this regard, he expressed on the need to consider more on mechanization of products.
Commenting that innovation is going on in most of the North Eastern states, he was of the view that all other states should be given an opportunity to participate in the show. “Innovation and refinement should be there, so that there will be more improvement”, he added. Terming the handloom and handicrafts industry as a real employment opportunity, he emphasized on the need to promote this industry. Also stating that the Dimapur is the only cosmopolitan town that encompasses the whole of Nagaland with people of various culture, language and religion, he expressed on the need to build up the town. He further appreciated the MD of NHHDC for organizing the show every year.
Managing Director, NHHDC, N Hushili Sema in her brief speech extended gratitude to all the media persons for giving good and positive coverage in all their programme. A total of 90 units including Assam, Manipur, Mizoram and Thailand are participating in the show.
