KCCI prepares for Carnival
Kohima, November 28 (MExN): The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) will be holding the Kohima Night Carnival from December 1 to 7; the Carnival shall start from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The president and general secretary of KCCI in a press note stated that during the carnival vehicular traffic from Y junction at Taxi Stand till Razhu Point shall be closed. Booking and reservation for open air restaurants, stalls etc are open and interested parties may contact the KCCI office at the earliest. Interestingly, the note stated that the gas agencies of Kohima town, namely, Seyie Gas Agency and Belho Gas Agency will be giving new connections to the denizens of Kohima town at a special festival discount rate.
Moreover, the petrol pumps of Kohima town – Sekhose Service, SKV Agency and Krubi Agency will be issuing scratch card to the customers to benefit them with festive gifts.
The KCCi has also approached the civil supply department to make available more rice at subsidized rate and the fisheries department to sell fish at low cost. Meanwhile, during the night carnival, open air restaurants catering vegetarian and non vegetarian food items such as Kababs, fast food, Tibetan, Nepali and Mao specialties will be open to meet the demands of the families who wish to dine out. Special attraction like the Carnival Santa Clause, clowns, jugglers, fire chasers, magicians, singers, musicians and models will be seen along the main road of Kohima town.
The note also went on saying that to make the carnival success, the power department had been approached to provide uninterrupted power supply and also to lighten the town, the PHE to provide sufficient water, the KMC to provide free import of goods to create a free and competitive market and various NGOs to see that the sale of intoxicants is prohibited. The Home department to assure that enough police is being deployed to check unwanted elements. The KCCI in the note has also appealed to every individual to be a pert of the carnival “in the most socially acceptable manner as the carnival will not only be an attraction to the people of Kohima but also the tourist from the country and abroad”.
