State committees constituted for UIDAI project



Kohima, December 21 (DIPR): The government of India, through the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is embarking on an ambitious project of issuing Unique Identification numbers to all residents of the Republic of India. To facilitate the successful implementation of the project in the state of Nagaland, the ‘State Empowered Committee’ has been constituted for this purpose.
The Committee will function under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Nagaland and comprises the following members: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as chairman, with members including Dr. Shürhozelie, Minister for urban development and higher education, T R Zeliang, Minister for planning & coordination, G Kaito Aye, Minister for roads & bridges, Imkong L Imchen, Minister for home, Nyeiwang Konyak, Minister for school education & SCERT, Doshehe Y Sema, Minister for power & election, P Longon, Minister for soil & water conservation, Kuzholuzo Neinu, Minister for health & family welfare, M C Konyak, Minister for forest & environment, Dr. Ngangshi K Ao, Minister for PHE, Dr. Chumben Murry, Minister for agriculture, P Dako Phom, Parliamentary Secretary for transport, Kipili Sangtam, NSMDC chairman, R Khing, Parliamentary Secretary for horticulture, and Azheto Zhimomi, Advisor for sericulture.
The Home Commissioner will act as the Secretary of the above Committee. In order to assist the Empowered Committee in implementing the above project, a ‘State Level Implementation Committee’ under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary has also been constituted, with Chief Secretary Lalthara as chairman, Additional Chief Secretary Alemtemshi Jamir, and H K Khulu, Commissioner of Nagaland, as members, Home Commissioner Mhathung Kithan as member secretary, and Commissioner and Secretary R Benchilo Thong, Commissioner and Secretary Temjen Toy, Commissioner and Secretary Viketol Sakhrie, Secretary K T Sukhalu, Secretary T C Sangtam, Secretary B Thawang Konyak, and Benjamin Newmai, Secretary and Representative of UIDAI, as members.
