‘Tourist village’ status proposed for Phushito village

Dimapur, February 1 (MExN): Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor for cooperation and sericulture, Nagaland, today declared Phushito Village, under Aqahuto area of Dhansiripar sub-division, as suitable for development as a tourist village. The MLA, along with government officials of various departments in the district, was in the area on February 1 to inspect its topography and evaluate the feasibility of the village as tourist village.
Zhimomi was accompanied by Maongwati Aier, Dimapur Deputy Commissioner, K K Rengma, Superintendent Engineer PHE, T Rio, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), Eyongol Angami, DHO Dimapur, N Wotsa, DAO Dimapur, and Akumla, SDO(C) Dhansiripar. Besides, DMC members Vikheho Zhimo, Chobaothung and Thong, Vihoshe Awomi, chairman of Purana Bazaar Adhoc Town Council, Shilu Sangtam, president of NPF Dimapur division, and other NPF party functionaries were also in attendance. The visiting group inspected existing projects and sites of natural resources in the village, informed a press release from Tohoshe Sema, PS to MLA Azheto Zhimomi.
Later, at an informal gathering in the village, village head Phushito Sumi informed the visiting delegates of the large scale bamboo, horticulture and piggery projects taken up at the village. He also spoke of the plans for developing the village as a tourist village. Sumi further added how the picturesque state of the village has drawn a number of people to the village, besides local filmmakers who come to shoot movie scenes in the village.
MLA Azheto Zhimomi revealed that the purpose of his visit was to personally observe and evaluate the feasibility of the village. Expressing satisfied with his inspection, the MLA said that the village can be declared as tourist village. He hoped that the government would take up the issue for the benefit of the people.
Asking the officials present to help the village, Zhimomi pointed out that “it is our moral responsibility to develop the society”. Informing that the government has prepared tremendous avenues for the people, he maintained that people should know how to approach the government. If you do not show your effort, he added, the government will not come forward to help you.
Also speaking on the occasion, Maongwati Aier said that the place was ideal to be a tourist village, and added that it would help not only the tourism industry in the state but the people as well. The DC Dimapur assured he would take up the matter for discussion in the next DPDB meeting and put forward a proposal to the government for approval. The DHO and DAO also expressed appreciation to the GB for the development of agriculture and horticulture in the village. They further highlighted on the crops suitable to the soil in the village.
