Dimapur | February 20 : Alobo is an up-and-coming new Christian artist of Nagaland. Featuring a fine blend of all musical genres, he is set to release his album, Road of thousand dreams. Lhovito Tuccu is the producer of the album. Road of thousand dreams is a testimonial album as it consist of songs which speak of the artist’s life stories and are inspired from an event or incident from his life. The album has both English and Sumi dialect songs and it beautifully covers almost all genre of slow music while the musical instrument mostly dominating all the tracks is the piano, which is “a deep contrast to other local albums which are mostly guitar dominated.” The album consists of an eclectic mix of jazz, slow rock, classic pop, salsa and bollywood, acoustic, orchestration and folk rock. Road of thousand dreams will be released on February 27 at Hope Centre of Excellence by Kughato Chishi, Director, Music Task Force, government of Nagaland.
From the very tender age of five, Alobo has been expressing and living his passion for music by performing in live concerts to singing and playing air guitar in front of his parents. Very soon his passion took him beyond the four-walls of his room; to bigger platforms and larger audiences.
By the time he was in high school, Alobo started singing and playing gigs in a band. He started writing songs by the age of 12 years and even composed and performed his own originals by then. After his schooling in Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Alobo joined Patkai Christian College where his music skills of playing, singing and writing music gained more maturity. During his college days Alobo played in college fests and also toured with his band “Nice & Ugly” around and outside Nagaland. The band won the title of ‘Summer Jam 2003’ where he was adjudged as the best vocalist and the best performer.
After graduation he left for Delhi to pursue a master’s degree but even there he was singing everywhere; college fest, Pubs, Hotels, Radio etc.
And it was in Delhi in the year 2005 where Alobo encountered God and it was one of the major turning points as he realized his gift/talent from God and his purposes in life and started following Christian music. He contributed his songs to some Christian albums in Delhi and also worked in some recording studios. He served as a worship leader in Sumi Fellowship Delhi, Freedom Church, and Church of the Nation and Kingdom International Church, Delhi. Sometimes he had to lead worship in three fellowship programs on one Sunday but he says he did it for the love of God and music.
Back home in Dimapur he joined a Christian band ‘Spark’ and performed in some shows with them and at the same time was involved in ministering to people. He was also featured in the Christian video album “ICON 08” which is a compilation of songs from the 10 Best Christian Artists in Nagaland in 2008.
At present he is working as the Youth President and also the worship leader of Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church. He is currently learning more music at Hope Center of Excellence under the guidance of Nise Meruno. For him learning is a never ending process, “the more I know the less I feel I know…”
