AR raids CCM & Chairman USR NSCN (K) house
Kiphire, February 7 (MExN): The 7th Assam rifles led by the post commander raided the house of the Chairman and CCM member USR NSCN (K) early morning on February 7, hospitalizing some of the cadres including the chairman and harassed some public leaders who were on tour for domestic purposes at the residence of the chairman.
Commenting over the incident the administrative and police officers of the district said, ‘Assam Rifles have every right to raid any house if they found suspicious under AFSPA but they should take police guide along if any such activities is to be taken place, however, in Kiphire the Assam rifles are not taking any police guide which is not desirable’ and added, ‘the police and administration have no knowledge of the activities of Assam Rifles as they do not update the activities to the officers concern though it is mandatory for Assam Rifles to do so before any raid’.
The law enforcing officers also stated that raiding a house at the dead of the night by the Assam rifles personals was not called for and they also expressed their displeasure with the activities of the ‘Fiends of the hill people’.
Vice Chairman USLB while interacting with the correspondence said, with the posting of new Assam rifles post commander situation is turning different and added, Assam Rifles posted in Kiphire is not for the protection of its citizen but to create unwanted situation’.
He also said, ‘Chairman Cease fire monitoring should set up an enquiry at the earliest so that peace is not destabilized in the peace zone’.Sources said, ‘the 7th Assam Rifles took away cash of 29,800 and 28 Boar gun bullets which was later handed over to the police.
