ATMA Dimapur training under kuhuboto block
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 8 (MExN): A training cum demonstration on the topic ”Cultivation of Millet” was given to the participants from 11 Self Help Groups (SHGs) organised by ATMA Kuhuboto Block at Kuhuboto Town. The participants were imparted a live demonstration on millet cultivation by resource person, Toiviswu A.O and BTT Convenor (ATMA), Kuhuboto Block. He encouraged the participants to grow millets as it involves less labour and can also be stored for more than a year.
Pointing out the economic importance of millet as it has many different varieties with different colours. It is used in making wine and also used for medicinal purpose like diabetes. Its rich vitamins found in millet are niacin, folic acid, calcium, zinc, potassium etc.India is the world’s leading producer of millet. However, India now uses majority of its millet harvest as fodder and for poultry feed applicants.
The keynote address was given by Ahovi Sema, DAO and PD (ATMA) Dimapur and the training programme was chaired by Akavi Holo, BTM (ATMA) Kuhuboto Block.
