SJC exchange programme with BU International

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): With eagerness and keen expectation to learn and gain knowledge, under the leadership of Fr. Abraham Lotha, Principal St. Joseph’s College Jakhama along with Assistant Professors Mhonthung Yanthan, Alibo Achumi, Thejanuo Fidelia and Fr. John Lotha, went to Thailand from January 5 to 12, to explore possibilities for a staff-students exchange programme with Bangkok University International.
A press note issued by the visiting team of St. Joseph’s College Jakhama stated that the main purpose of this trip was to visit and have an interactive session with the faculty of Bangkok University International. Associate Prof. Tipchan Wongchanta, Ph.D was there to receive the team in the University where in the conference Room they met with President Mathana Santiwat and her colleagues.
Following a guided tour of BU International and a short presentation of Bangkok University International and St. Joseph's College, they discussed the main intention of the visit.
The Principal gave a brief introduction about the college and the possibilities of having exchange programme. Alibo Achumi, Assistant Prof. Dept of Sociology, highlighted about the various activities of the department and the possibility of exchanging socio-cultural studies and programmes. Thejanuo Fidelia HoD of Commerce spoke about the department with an aim of linking and boosting for a better relationship in the context of the Look East Policy of India, making the North East as the corridor for strengthening economic ties. Mhonthung Yanthan, Assistant Prof. Dept of Political Science spoke of the department and suggested the possibility of studying geo-political issues and comparative study of ASEAN Politics. Fr. John Lotha, HoD of English highlighted about the department and spoke on the use of English as the medium of instruction in the College. After a brief report of the Departments, the Principal presented the various potentials the college can offer to Bangkok University International students.
The meeting ended with a gifts exchange from both sides after which Associate Prof. Tipchan and Associate Dean for Students Affairs Buppha Obchuac took us for another guided tour of Bangkok University International.
