SCERT stipulates textbooks for Class 1 to 8
Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The Director of SCERT has informed that as notified earlier on September 29, 2011, all schools are mandatorily required to use the EVS/Social Science textbooks developed/prescribed by the SCERT of Nagaland as common textbooks in schools for classes 1-8. SCERT Director Vipralhou Kesiezie issued a notice today.
The notice stated: “As for class VIII, apart from the Social Science textbooks, all private schools are given the liberty to select textbooks of their choice for all other subjects provided the books conform to the requirement of the State Curriculum and Syllabus. This relaxation is however limited to this academic year only. Beginning from 2013, all textbooks officially prescribed by the SCERT will be made common textbooks for use in class VIII in all schools as elementary stage-end certificate will continue in spite of the abolition of elementary board examination from this year.
All schools are directed to refer to the State Curriculum and Syllabus 2010 document to get direction to the manner in which the quarterly Assessments under CCE is to be implemented in their respective schools. These directives are given for strict compliance by all schools.”
