The Mega Miss North East beauty pageant has been scheduled on April 14 in Dimapur, which would be an opportunity for gorgeous women of northeast to exhibit their beauty and talent. The contest is organized by the Mega Entertainment in association with Get Gorgeous.
Briefing the media today, February 11, on the “mega event”, the managing director of Mega Entertainment Abhijeet Singha said that this is the first time an event has been organized with “no title sponsors”. “…to prove the impossible as possible.” Also, the president of Get Gorgeous, Amen said it is not an easy job to organize this kind of event without “major sponsors”. However the duo said everything is going on smoothly as they have been getting good responses.
The MD of Mega Entertainment also informed that eight states will be participating and the contest is exclusively based on talent. The winner will represent northeast in the Femina Miss India prelims.
Enquiring on opportunities outside the state for the model aspirants, he disclosed that “height of our models” is one of the hindrances because in fashion industry minimum height required for a woman is 5.7ft. However, with good talent, personality and hard work, the aspirants can achieve like any other successful models.
Referring to the recently held Mega Mr Northeast in Kohima, he said Naga men have good physic but “some bit of workout is needed”.
Concerning contestants who are not fluent in English, he said translators will be there so that with no difficulty they can express their opinions. “…even a girl who cannot speak English can win.”
Regarding grooming of the contestants, he said the girls will be groomed in Guwahati for 15 days.
Also, Singha disclosed that the models will be displaying attires designed by local designers and present Femina Miss India will be one of the judges. There will be four rounds – traditional, smart casual, Indian wear and evening wear. The show stopper for the event will be Mega Mr. North East 2012 finalist Rakesh Kalita. Next year the pageant will be held in Shillong - “Scotland of the East”.
