Farmers avail mechanism under RKVY programme
Farm machineries, tools and implements are displayed which were distributed by department of agriculture Zunheboto.
Dimapur, February 11 (MEwN): The department of agriculture Zunheboto distributed farm machineries, tools and implements for beneficiaries under RKVY programme.
A press note issued by the DAO Zunheboto said that District Agriculture Officer, G. Kiyevu Aye while highlighting the importance of farm mechanization stated that its main objective was to enhance the overall productivity and production with the lowest cost of production. Since agricultural operations in Nagaland continues to be labour intensive with traditional practices, he urged the farmers for adopting farm mechanization which will divert local farmers from subsistence farming to improve modern farming system, bring more command areas under crop production, bring more farmers under settled cultivation in order to reduce jhum cultivation. Stating that the Tozu Valley has ample potential where mechanization can intervene, the DAO urged the farmers to avail full benefit of the opportunity offered and also to utilize the provided machineries, tools and implements properly. The various tools and implements distributed included water pumpset, knap sack sprayer, hand compression sprayer, wheel borrow, picaxe, spade, shovel, wateringcane, G. Rake, kodali, sickle, transplanting trowel etc.
