NSS Patkai conducts special camping prog
Students of NSS-Unit of Patkai Christian College during the special camping programme.
Dimapur, February 11 (MExN): The NSS-Unit of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) conducted a special camping programme for the degree students’ volunteer for the session 2011-2012 from February 2 to 8, a week-long camp, under the theme “Environment Care”. The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr. Jyoti, Vice-Principal of Patkai Christian College.
Dr. Jyoti, in her speech described NSS as a holistic approach towards education, by saying that it is the platform in mounting personality and co-operation and said that the NSS in Patkai has become a very popular branch of this institution. Further, she encouraged the volunteers to understand one’s role in the community, by saying that the first and foremost thing that you understood is your relationship to the community, to work with people and to uphold the will to serve the community.
Bendangnungsang, Programme Officer, NSS, along with 40 volunteers attended the camp with a purpose of inculcating environmental care among the student volunteers and to preserve the adjacent green & clean. The first day of the camp was set for programme reviewing and meetings with the leaders of NSS and two days were kept aside for the seminar session. The topics and speakers for the seminar session were Samuel, Department of Political Science, Patkai Christian College who spoke on “Roadmap to Peace and Contentment” Kilangbenla, Department of Mathematics, Patkai Christian College on “Selfless Service” and Rallo Patton, Department of History on the theme topic “Environment Care” have spoken and encouraged the campers attended.
One-day sightseeing programme was organized under the activity of the camp where campers were taken to Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar and an Orphanage in Dimapur under the guidance of Programme Officer. The activity of the aforesaid camp included trekking, cleanliness drive by picking of litters and scraps in village areas and planting of saplings in the old Seithekema village. Sentinaro, Department of Political Science was the resource person on the last day of the camp, where she encouraged the volunteers attended to give their best in the way to serve our people for the well being of the community, by saying that it is better to give than to received.
