Nagaland participates in Agricultural Fair

ATMA officials and farmer exhibitor from Nagaland at Agricultural Fair organised by Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara, Guwahati.
Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): The Assam Agricultural University, Khanapara, Guwahati has organised an Agricultural Fair starting from February 10 to 12 sponsored by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, GoI. The event is being held in the play ground of the college of Veterinary Sciences and ATMA Nagaland is also participating. The State Nodal Officer, ATMA Nagaland has deputed a team of five ATMA officials and one farmer exhibitor is now participating at the ongoing North East Agri-expo in Khanapara, Guwahati.
A press note issued by Project Director-ATMA (Phek) Dr. Moa Walling said that the purpose of participating in the Agri-Fair is to showcase the different commodities produced by Naga farmers and promote “Marketing Linkage” for these produces and products. Different commodities which have longer shelf life and high value were collected from different districts like dried large cardamom from Mon, 12 varieties of Kholar from Tuensang, fresh Naga chilli from Peren, Naga chilli products like Dried Naga Chilli, Naga chilli pickle, Self Defence spray (Naga chilli), ginger & turmeric, and pineapple from Dimapur.
A team of 18 farmers led by two ATMA officials who are on an outside the state exposure tour also visited the ongoing North East Agri-Fair on February 10. The team will visit some places in Guwahati city and will proceed to Shillong on Sunday. ATMA Nagaland is implementing the Extension Reform Programme (CSS) by way of conducting trainings, demonstrations, formation of CIGs/SHGs, exposure tours, exhibitions, etc to create awareness and bridge the technological gaps in Agri & Allied sectors.
