RBC bids adieu to Rev. K. Vikheto Chophi

Dimapur, February 13 (MExN): After serving the Rotomi Baptist Church (RBC) as its Pastor for almost 28 years, Rev. K. Vikheto Chophi, on retirement, was accorded a warm farewell on Sunday, February 12 at Rotomi village.
Rotomi people from Dimapur, Kohima, Zunheboto, Akuhaito etc converged at the village to attend the farewell programme and seek the prayer-blessings of the retired Reverend. Various speakers during the programme described the retiring Reverend as a “tolerant,” “humble” and “kind hearted” servant of God. GB Rotomi, Hukato said Rev Vikheto is a strong prayer warrior the results of which could be seen in the coming up of scores of officers and successful people from the village.
Deacon Board chairman, Yevukhu said the Pastor had taken care of the Church in all its glory following all code of conduct set by the Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (SBAK). He revealed that Rev Vikheto was on daily basis praying for Rotomi and its people from 12 noon to 1:00 pm wherever he might be.
Rev Vikheto in his brief speech thanked God for guiding and helping him all through the years of his Pastorship at Rotomi village. He acknowledged the support of the various Church departments and members, village people and individuals from far and wide for uplifting him in every possible way. “Even if I go, my prayers and blessing will be with the people of Rotomi,” said Rev Vikheto choking in his own voice.
A host of representatives from Atoizu Area Pastors’ Fellowship, Khumishi village, different Rotomi Welfares, Church departments etc spoke during the programme. Other prominent speakers included Class 1 Contractor, Pukhato, joint secretary youth resources & sports, Nikhashe and additional secretary to government of Nagaland, Kikheto Y. Sema IAS.
Rev Vikheto was installed as the Pastor on August 12, 1984. During his 27 years, seven months and five days of service at Rotomi, Rev Vikheto has to his credit the successful hosting of mass programmes like, SBAK Youth Convention, SBAK Revival Hour, Rotomi Baptist Church Platinum Jubilee, NBCC 74th Annual Conference, Rotomi Outreach Mission Silver Jubilee etc. Originally from Khumishi village (Tizu Island), the 67-year old Reverend was the third regular Pastor installed at Rotomi Baptist Church. He was felicitated with several presentations by the Church, individuals and other organisations. He served as pastor at different places for a total of around 33 years.
