Sumi Baghi Hoho meeting on Feb 25 at Zunheboto

DIMAPUR, February 15 (MExN): The Sumi Baghi Hoho which was earlier postponed due to unavoidable circumstances is now rescheduled to be held on February 25, 2012, 10:00 am at Town Hall, Zunheboto. The agendas for deliberation are: (1) Caution Notice to Mr. Kitoho Rotokha, Vice President, Sumi Hoho and resignation, (2). Factional tension at Zunheboto district, (3) Approval of Sumi Hoho Yezaboh (Constitution), (4) Any other agenda deemed necessary for discussion.  All the Sumi Frontal organizations including Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, Sumi Officers Union Nagaland, Western Sumi Hoho and sub Hohos, Sumi Literature Board, Sumi Mhesho Mheghi Mpi, Sumi Games and Sports Association, etc., All the Sumi public leaders and concerned individuals are asked to attend this crucial meeting positively. This was informed in a press note issued by Hovishe Arkha, Vice President, Sumi Hoho and Vihuto Asumi, Secretary, Sumi Hoho. The Hoho also requested all the Sumi legislators to attend this meeting and to express their concerned views for the future of the Sumis. In connection with the Baghi Hoho, all the Sumi Hoho Executive Members and the heads of the frontal organizations are asked to attend a consultative meeting on February 24, 1:00 pm at Hoho Office.

AR foils major infiltration bid at Avangkhu

Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): The troops of 5 Sector Assam Rifles foiled an infiltration bid by allegedly NSCN (K) cadres on night of February 10. The group with an approximate strength of ten to twelve cadres attempted to infiltrate from general area Avangkhu between border pillar 133 and border pillar 134. However, their attempt was foiled by vigilant troops of Assam Rifles who surprised the cadres moving from across the border into India. On being challenged by Assam Rifles troops, the NSCN (K) cadres panicked and ran back towards Myanmar, under the cover of darkness. However, war like stores was recovered from the site which the panicked cadres left behind before crossing into Myanmar.  This attempt by NSCN (K) cadres is a gross violation of laid down ceasefire ground rules and also violation of the sanctity of International border. Assam Rifles will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the laid down ceasefire ground rules are respected by cadres in letter and spirit and also sanctity of the international border is maintained at all cost.

Tsahyok-nyi festival celebrated

Kohima, February 15 (MExN): The Tikhir Women Union Kiphire (TWUK) celebrated the premier festival Tsahyok-nyi from February 2 to 3 last. Athrila Stm, SDO(C) Kiphire graced the celebration as the chief guest and donated Rs. 20,000 towards the Union. Cotton yearning, folk songs, folk dance and playing flute were the highlight of the celebration. T.J. Kius, president TTUK, Taijangkhim, PA to DC Kiphire and Tushela Caroline, president TWA also spoke on women empowerment and the importance of culture and traditions. This was stated in a release issued by S. Santsushe, president Tikhir Women Union Kiphire.

PTCSU elects new team

Kohima, February 15 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) has appointed its new team of office bearers for the tenure 2012- 14. President-Zhoto Dozo, vice-president- Kupa H. Keyho, general secretary- Meyiete Thahu, banker-Kewenyilo-u K.Tara, representative to CSU- Kozote Akami and Chepetso Koza. Union Assembly: Speaker-Neizote Venuh, deputy speaker-Nukhochi Tetseo, secretary-Khelo Lasuh, tribunals: Neingutso Mekrisuh- Convener, Mulehu Khesoh-member, Avi Movi-member. Meanwhile, the Union informed that there will be handing and taking over programme on February 25 at PTC Complex at 2:00 P.M. All the concerned office Bearers, senior leaders, well-wishers have been requested to attend the programme without fail.

New GMS at Kidima village

Kidima, February 15 (DIPR): The District Education Officer, Kohima, Rheituolie Metha will be inaugurating the new Government Middle School at Kidima village as the Chief Guest on February 18. The Chairman, Village Education Committee, Kenongol Sakhrie and the programme organizer has requested the villagers and all well-wishers to take part during the occasion.

Conference to promote community policing on February 18

Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): The Deputy General of Police (Range/NAP) K Elias Lotha has informed that with a view to promote community policing in the state of Nagaland, a conference of police and civil societies has been scheduled on February 18, 9:30 am at Dimapur Town Hall. The DGP in a press note has requested for mass participation of all prominent public leaders and civil societies.
