Teachers trained on school health

Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): Department of Health & Family Welfare organized training for primary teachers on February 14, 2012 at EBRC, Mokokchung Village where 101 teachers were trained. The training was held to equip the teachers with various knowledge on school health.
During the training Dr.Limatula District Immunization Officer, Mokokchung stated that the overall objective of the Teachers’ training in School Health Programme is to enable the primary school teachers to actively associate themselves in planning and carrying out a School Health Programme in their own schools with the ultimate goal of achieving better health for school children.
Teachers were trained on how to identify children with eye problems in the classroom and eye screening, to maintain good personal hygiene and sanitation, to provide a safe supportive and healthy environment in the school, food and nutrition, treatment of minor ailments and to provide first aid, the role of teachers in imparting adolescent education in school.
The resource person for the training were Dr.Limatula Aier DIO,Saku Opthalmic Assistant, Takamenla LHV, Watisangla LHV, Jimenyangla School Health Programme Co-ordinator and Olemla Media Officer.
The same training was held On February 8, 2012 for Changtongya Block at EBRC Changtongya where 76 teachers were trained. During the training the Sub Divisional Education Officer of Changtongya Block Arenla Aier encouraged the trainees to participate and learn from such training. She also extended gratitude to Health & Family Welfare department for imparting such kind of training to the teachers.
The next teachers’ training is scheduled for Khensa Block, Kubolong Block and Mangkolemba Block.
