IPPI Campaign 2012: Let’s gift a Polio-Free world for our children

District Task Force prepares for IPPI campaign

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): District Task Force meeting on “IPPI campaign February 19 to April 1” was held on February 13 at DC conference which was chaired by Husheli, DC, Dimapur (IAS). Participants from various NGOs and Departments were present for the meeting.
A brief presentation on IPPI status of the District was presented b y Dr. R. Chielie, District Immunization Officer, with an aim to update the delegates present on the global scenario on Polio prevalence, background, logistics and why Dimapur is at a higher risk than other District from Polio Virus, she stressed on the need for identifying high risk population for immunization, conveying that India marked one year since its last case of the crippling disease. On January 13, 2011, Rukhsar Khatoon aged 18 months, from West Bengal, the young girl with the last reported case of wild poliovirus in India.
During the meeting various NGOs and Departments also gave their inputs and suggestions which were duly noted by the DTF. The meeting ended with a resolution from all participants to extend all the necessary support required to make the programme a success. The DC summarized that there is a need to have an aggressive approach to eradicate Polio and every responsible citizen should take charge to see that every child is immunized against Polio and make a Polio free world.

Mkg all set to conduct IPPI

Mokokchung, February 17 (DIPR): Mokokchung district is all set to carry out first phase of Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) on February 19. All children between 0-5 years will be administered Pulse Polio in distinguished Polio booths in the district. Adequate manpower to man all the polio booths have arranged to ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops on the occasion. Administration of pulse polio will start from 8.00 a.m. and will continue till 2.00 p.m. According to Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung house to house visit will be conducted on February 20 and 21 to make sure all eligible children receives polio drops. IPPI is one of the Nation wide health programmes aiming at eradicating pulse polio from the country.

IPPI in Kiphire from Feb 19

Kiphire, February 17 (MExN): The District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr. Kibang has informed all the Town Councils, Village Councils, Village Health Committees, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers of Kiphire district that Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) will be given to children 0-5years of age starting from February 29 to 21 in every town and villages. The DIO has requested all and especially to the general public to give full co-operation to the health workers and ensure that every child receives the 2 drops of life saving Polio vaccine on these days.

507 booths for IPPI in Dimapur

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): In Dimapur IPPI 2012 will be held on February 19 from 7.30 am – 3.00 pm, altogether there are 507 booths with 2028 team members. All the parents and concern persons are requested to mobilize all the children 0-5 years to receive the polio drops at the nearest booth within your locality for the success of the programme stated a press note issued by Dimapur Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sukhato A Sema.
