Youth called to contribute towards nation building
Mokokchung, February 20 (MExN): Life skills training programme closing function cum district youth convention was held on February 18 at Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung with Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, ADC, Mokokchung as the Chief Guest of the programme. NYK, Mokokchung, District Youth Coordinator, John Makhabo informed in a press release that more than 16 youth attended the programme.
Kesonyu Yhome, IAS, while stating that the Constitution of India which is democratic in nature has provision for the development of every youth, called upon the youth to contribute towards nation building. He stated that Nagas has become impediment to us by not working hard. Hard work is the only road to success. He asked the youth to take education seriously as educated persons become more mature and responsible. He also asked the youth to have dreams in life as dreams will lead them to achieve their target. He also stated “the future of Nagas is in the hands of the young people; not to outsiders. We have to work for peace and development by contributing our might.”
Keynote address was given by John Makhabo, DYC, NYK, Mokokchung. He stated that life skills training was target for the young adolescents who needed guidance the most. Life skills is conducted with the objectives to translate knowledge, develop appropriate attitudes and inculcate values that would help the young mind to acquire the ability to reduce exposure to specific risk factors. This in turn would help in the instillation of responsible behaviour and contribute towards improved lifestyle. Fr. Philip, Principal, Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung while addressing the youth stated that every one should live upon the Life skills that one has learnt, as it will safeguard themselves from vulnerabilities.
The chief guest distributed sports materials to the Youth Clubs which are affiliated to NYK, Mokokchung. He also gave away District Level Youth Leaders Awards 2011-2012 to Jemtilemba and Temjenjungla with Rs. 5000 cash and a citation each. The programme was chaired by Jemtilemba and welcome address was given by Mapuratla and vote of thanks was given by Toachila a participant.
